Russian Expert School established the Orthodoxia journal in 2020 as a periodical to publish the most relevant and significant research studies related to the history and modernity of world Orthodoxy, with special attention paid to the Russian Orthodox Church.
The concept of the journal proceeds on the basis that Orthodoxy is one of the major Christian denominations playing a significant role in a number of countries and influencing international processes in general. In recent years, Russia and certain regions of the world reveal an increase in public discussions, in which the voice of representatives of Orthodoxy can be heard or which directly or indirectly address Orthodox topics.
Orthodox countries now witness a growing interest in the doctrine, history, and social status of the Orthodox Church, both among researchers and nonexperts. Specialized scientific publications devoted to Orthodoxy are becoming more and more in demand.
The journal was established as an interdisciplinary one. It focuses on ideological (theological, philosophical) aspects and social processes in different historical periods and in the modern life of Orthodoxy.
The Orthodoxia journal first began to be published in 2021, four issues per year.
